Our market evidence shows that mixed species timber, mainly spruce has occasionally shown signs of premature failings. McVeigh Parker strongly recommend UC4 redwood pine, for in ground contact applications.
Why pay more?
Ever since the government and treatment companies decided not to allow or offer the use of CCA (Copper Chrome Arsenate) in 2006, we have witnessed an increase of premature failings in the market. McVeigh Parker has had many discussions with treatment companies, timber suppliers and trade bodies, however we have struggled to get a conclusive and informative answer as to what quality needs to be specified, in order to achieve a life span that is equivalent to the old CCA. With this knowledge, we at McVeigh Parker have made the decision to strongly recommend and offer UC4 redwood for all in ground contact timber applications.
